A VISION TO REMEMBER
Occasionally you have those projects that give you a smile on your face. Even months after you’re done. Working with de Bijenkorf – the largest premium department store in the Netherlands – to launch their 2030 vision felt like being a kid in a candy store. It was a project that didn’t just bring a vision to life, but got people genuinely excited about where they were heading.
It all started with…
The original brief from de Bijenkorf was whether we could help them visualise their 2030 vision. As part of our happenseveryday-method, we started with challenging the brief. Our pitch started somewhat off topic by asking the board one simple question: "Wat weten jullie van het Hoofdlijnen akkoord”, which translates to English into something like “What do you know about the Dutch Coalition agreement”?
We banked our pitch on the answer being: “Not much, really”.
Only when we started to unpack this dry policy into smaller themes and making it very personal and relatable, it started to stick.
That’s exactly how many employees feel when a company launches a new strategy. We wanted to turn this vision into something that truly moved people and into something that they still remember in 12 months from now.
Making strategy come to life
So, the question became:
“How can we get our team to live and breathe our vision for 2030?”
Before thinking about the launch, we refined and sharpened the vision of the Board. Looking at the Big Change they wanted to see and how to turn this into a narrative that people remember.
At Studio Springboard, we strongly believe that a vision doesn't come to life in the boardroom.
It comes to life when people across the organisation are truly excited by it and see how they can deliver against this vision every day. That's why we stress-tested the narrative with employees at every level: from the dedicated floor manager to the visual designer, to the board.
An immersive strategy launch for 600+ employees
If there is one thing we love, it is turning a big launch into a buzzing experience. Because you won’t remember a PowerPoint, but you will remember the energy in the room.
And boy, did the 600+ employees of de Bijenkorf bring the energy that day!
Together with an absolute A-team from the client, we organised a highly immersive carrousel in the DeLaMar theatre, one of the most iconic theaters in Amsterdam. The team got to feel, understand and experience the different components of this 2030 vision.
From what it means to the future of the company as a whole to what it means for the employees and customers who are on the floor every single day.
But really, it’s their story to tell
de Bijenkorf: “I find working with Springboard extremely valuable. What I particularly appreciate is how they can feel like close colleagues one moment, while at the same time being excellent at taking our ideas to the next level. We’ve had several agencies pitch for this work, and the combination of strong strategic content and their fresh, engaging personalities is truly distinctive.”
